Consider a standard 52-card deck of playing cards if I randomly draw one card from the deck, what is the probability that

a).           the card is a face card, given that the card is red

b).           the card is red, given that the card is a face card

I find : 12 / 26 and 26 / 52 ?

Is this right ?

Thanks !

I'm confused on what the question is really asking, what does it mean by "given"?

P(Face card / Red)  =  [Probability of a Face Card and Probability of a Red Card] / [Probability of a Red Card}   = [12/52 * 1/2] / [ 1/2]   =  [ 6/52] /[ 1/2]  =  12/52  = 6/26 = 3/13

P(Red Card / Face Card)  = [ [Probability of a Face Card and Probability of a Red Card] / [Probability of a Face Card]  =   [ 12/52 * 1/2] / [12/52] =  1/2

cool cool cool
