Use a common denominator; if you don't want to go through the work of finding the lowest common denominator, just multiply the two denominators together:  15 x 6  =  90

(8/15) x (6/6)  +  (5/6) x (15/15)

=  48/90 + 75/90    Add the numerators together; place that answer over the common denominator.

=  123/90               But since I didn't look for a common denominator, I'll have to reduce the answer;                                                 both 123 and 90 are divisible by 3.

=  41/30
