A 10-meter telephone pole casts a 17-meter shadow directly down a slope when the angle of elevation of the sun is 42o (see figure).  Find θ, the angle of elevation of the ground (to the nearest tenth of a degree).  (A calculator is needed for this problem

Here is a quick sketch of my answer:  

error   14 m should be 17m

sin 138/17  = sin y /11.106     y = 25.92 degrees

slope =  42 - 25.92 = 16.1 degree slope
