Bruce has $5.15 in dimes and quarters. He has 8 more quarters than dimes. How many quarters does he have?
...
Yeah, I suck at US currency.
I've already know one part of the problem
10c+25c=515
(Is that correct? I don't know.)
But for the other equation I am clueless.
Bruce has $5.15 in dimes and quarters. He has 8 more quarters than dimes. How many quarters does he have?
We have done 2 of these for you already. I want you to show me how you would start the problem.
Let D be the number of dimes (10c) and Q be the number of quarters (25c)
He has 8 more quarters than dimes. Turn that into a number sentence please

Let D=number of dimes, but we have,
D + 8=number of quarters, but,
.10D + .25(D + 8)=$5.15
.10D + .25D + 2=5.15
.35D=5.15-2=3.15 divide both sides by .35
D=3.15/.35
D=9 number of dimes that Bruce has, and
9 + 8=17 number of quarters that Bruce has. Because:
(17 X .25) + (9 X .10)=$5.15
