If you are trying to say (x-16)= 15, then the sqare root method would just be to take the square root of both sides:

 

x-16 = sqrt(15), which is about 3.87.

 

Then, you would just add 16 to both sides:

 

x = 3.87+16, which would give you an answer of x = 19.87.
