What is the equation of the line in slope-intercept form that is parallel to the line y=-4x+6 and passes through the line (2, 7)

if two lines are parallel, they have the same slope.

 

so, our equation for the new line would be

 

y = -4x + b.

 

to solve for b, we must plug in the points from the coordinate that was given into the equation, like so:

 

7 = -4(2) + b

7 = -8 + b

15 = b

 

so now, our final equation in slope-intercept form is:

 

y = -4x + 15
