Adjacent angles could be supplementary  [example..... two right angles created by the intersection of perpendicular lines ].....and they could be complementary  [ example......angles created by the bisection of a right angle ]

Adjacent angles could also be neither.....[  example......two acute angles created by the bisection of a 45° angle  ]
