I kind of remember how to solve this, but I'm having trouble with this one (it's been over a decade since High School).

Question:

'Solve for y. 3(2y+4) = 4(2y-1/2)'

Can anyone help break the steps down on this one for me? I know it's simple, but I'm missing a step somewhere.

Heres what I have so far; please correct me if I'm wrong:

3(2y+4) = 4(2y-1/2)

6y+12 = 8y-2

?

3(2y+4) = 4(2y-1/2)

6y + 12 = 8y -2      distribute

12 = 2y -2              move smallest y value over by substracting

14 = 2y                  get y by itself by adding two to the other side

7 = y                     simplify
