how do you do quadratic formulae

Here is the formula.

(I'm going to use [2x^2 + 4x + 2] as my example)

First, you have to find a, b, and c. "A" is the first term in the equation. (In my example, 'a' is 2x^2.) You take the whole number (2) from the first term and plug it into the equation above for each 'a' you see. Now the equation reads:         -b (+or-) √ b^2 - (4*2*c)

                                                        x =                   (2)*(2)

Next, you find b, which is 4x, or just 4. The equation now reads:         -4 (+or-) √ 4^2 - (4*2*c)

                                                                                                        x =              (2)*(2)

C = 2
