A 12 ft. ladder makes a 33o angle with the side of a house. To the nearest tenth of a foot how high up on the house does the ladder come?

I set it up 12xcos33 giving me 10.0

No!  The question says the angle is between the ladder and the side of the house, not the ground.  The answer given by the questioner is correct.

Set up is almost correct, but cos=adj/hyp.  your setup will give you distance of the bottom of the ladder from the wall.  Sin is Opp/Hyp, ergo height of the top of the ladder on the wall.

so it would be sin33=x/12

which gives it 6.5 ?
