In(x-5)-4In(x+1)    we have

ln(x -5) - ln(x +1)^4  =

ln [(x - 5) / (x + 1)^4]

I used the folllowing properties, here

b ln a   = ln a ^b    and    ln a - ln b = ln[a / b]
