Diamond Method

What is the diamond method?

I'll have to admit.....I haven't heard of this either.......here's the method  [ without explanation]

2x^2 + x - 6

           -12

 4                    -3

             1  

          -12

2x                2x

4                 -3

           1

         -12

 x                  2x

 2                  -3

            1

And the factors become  (x + 2) (2x- 3)   = 2x^2 + x - 6
