Find the directrix and the focus.

 Feb 26, 2019

Start with this info:

The standard form is (x - h)2 = 4p (y - k), where the focus is (h, k + p) and the directrix is y = k - p.

we'll try to get your equation in that form....then everything pops out at ya...

(x-2)^2  = 24 (y-3)

(x-2)^2 = 4(6)(y-3)     Now you can see that the focus is   2,9    and the directrix is y = 3-6 = -3
