ABCD is a square. How many squares have two or more vertices in the set {A,B,C,D} ?

I got 9 and then 12, and it says that they were both incorrect!

8 if you dont count the square ABCD and 9 if you count it

I come up with 11 if you count ABCD  (don't forget the diagonals)....and wondering...if you use three of the vertices, then isn't it the same square ABCD.....if yes, AND you can't use ABCD, then I get only 6.
