2/3a - 1/6 = 1/3 what is the solution to the equation?

a= 1/6

a= 7/12

a= 3/4

a= 1/4

Which one? Is this a trick question?

2/3a = 1/6 + 2/6

4/6 a = 3/6

a = 3/6(6/4)

so a= 3/4

Why this is a trick question? If you want p.m. me !

I think you mean 2/3a and not 2/(3a)

(2/3)a  - 1/6  = 1/3

(2/3)a  =  1/3 + 1/6

(2/3)a  = 2/6 + 1/6

(2/3)a = 3/6

(2/3)a  =  1/2  multiply both sides by 3/2

a  = (3/2) (1/2)   =  3/4

Adding 1/6 to both sides we get 2/3a=1/2. Multiply both sides by 3/2 to get a by itself on one side. By doing this we get a=3/4
