A water tank in the shape of a right circular cylinder has a base radius of 30 meters and a volume of 2700 pi cubic meters. What is the number of meters in the height of the tank?

The formula for a cylinder is V = π*r^2*h

 

Plug in the numbers we know and we'll get 2700π = π(30)^2*h

 

Then just solve!

 

2700π = π(30)^2*h

2700π = 900π*h

 

2700/900 = 3

 

2700π = 900π * 3

2700π = 2700π

 

h = 3 meters
