Caleb earned a score of 38 on Exam A that had a mean of 76 and a standard deviation of 20. He is about to take Exam B that has a mean of 150 and a standard deviation of 40. How well must Caleb score on Exam B in order to do equivalently well as he did on Exam A? Assume that scores on each exam are normally distributed.

The formula to be used:  z-score  =  ( score - mean ) / (standard deviation)

Exam A:  you know the score, the mean, and the standard deviation; use these values to find

                       the z-score.

Exam B:  you know the mean, the standard deviation, and the z-score (this is what you calculated for

Exam A. Use these numbers to find the score that is needed.
