Imagine a rectangle. Keeping the base firm, if you slide the rectangle from the top to make a parallelogram so that its area is exactly half of that of the rectangle (with same dimensions), what would be the smaller angle of that parallelogram in degrees?

     The area is half.

     The base is the same.

     So, the height of the parallelogram has to be half the height of the rectangle.

     Drop a perpendicular from the top left corner to the base.  That's the Heightparallelogram.

     Heightpara / Heightrect  =  0.5000

     Hpara / Hrect  =  opposite / hypotenuse  =  sin(Θ)

     Θ  =  sin–1 (0.5000)

     Θ  =  30o
