Over time, a patient needs to get allergy shots totaling 60 mL. If the first 20 shots are each 0.5 mL, the next 20 shots are each 1 mL and thereafter each shot is 2 mL, how many shots does the patient get altogether?

20 x 0.5 =10 mL
20 x 1     =20 mL
20 + 20   =40 shots
10 + 20   =30 mL
60 mL - 30 mL =30 mL left
30 mL / 2 mL = 15 shots
20 + 20 + 15 =55 shots - to get 60 mL
