Solve for x:
9 (5-3 x) = (x+4)/2

Multiply both sides by 2:
2×9 (5-3 x) = 1 (x+4)

(2 (x+4))/2 = 2/2×(x+4) = x+4:
2×9 (5-3 x) = x+4

2×9 = 18:
18 (5-3 x) = x+4

Expand out terms of the left hand side:
90-54 x = x+4

Subtract x from both sides:
90+(-54 x-x) = (x-x)+4

-54 x-x = -55 x:
-55 x+90 = (x-x)+4

x-x = 0:
90-55 x = 4

Subtract 90 from both sides:
(90-90)-55 x = 4-90

90-90 = 0:
-55 x = 4-90

4-90 = -86:
-55 x = -86

Divide both sides of -55 x = -86 by -55:
(-55 x)/(-55) = (-86)/(-55)

(-55)/(-55) = 1:
x = (-86)/(-55)

The sign of (-86)/(-55) is positive, so (-86)/(-55) = 1×86/55:
Answer: |x = 86/55

9(5-3x)=(1/2)(x+4)    First, use distributive property

45 - 27x = .5x + 2     add 27x to both sides of the equation

45 = 27.5x + 2           SUbtract 2 from both sides

43 = 27.5 x               divide both sides by 27.5

43/(27.5)  = x             And simplify if needed

86/55 = x      0r  1.5636
