0.6(x+5)+1.6(x-4)=

First, we simplify the equation by multiplying the 0.6 by the x and the 5 and also multiplying the 1.6 by the x and the 4 like this: 0.6x+3+1.6x-6.4=

Next, we further simplify by adding the like things together like this:2.2x-3.4=

Then we add 3.4 to both sides. This cancels out the -3.4 on the left side of the equals sign so that the equation reads: 2.2x=3.4

Then finally we divide both sides by 2.2 which cancels out the 2.2 on the left side of the equals sign. The equation ends up looking like this: x=1.55

Just plug the number in for the x in the original equation like this:0.6(1.55+5)+1.6(1.55-4)=

0.6(6.55)+1.6(-2.45)=

3.927-3.927=0

So, the answer is either x=1.55 or 3.927-3.927=0
