How many ways are there to put 5 b***s in 3 boxes if the b***s are not distinguishable and neither are the boxes?

I think Geno may have answered for if everything is distinguishable.

If the b***s and the boxes are not distinguishable   (the same)  then

the only difference is how many are in the boxes.

5,0,0

4,1,0

3,2,0

3,1,1

2,2,1

I think that is it.

You can put the first ball in any of 3 boxes, the second ball in any of 3 boxes, etc.

There are 3 choices for each ball, so there are 3x3x3x3x3 = 35 choices = 243 choices.

Yeah...I got the same answer, Melody.....I believe this is correct because one box looks like another....and all the b***s look the same.....
