It depends on a lot of factors.  The person: where they live and how much he/she eats.  If the person lives at home with their parents, chances are he/she is not paying anything for groceries.  If the person lives on his/her own, if he/she lives in a rich neighborhood, the grocies could be quite expensive compared to a middle of the road neighborhood where the groceries could be a lot less expensive.  Once that is figured out, it depends on what he/she buys.  People who live in the same community, most likely do not buy the same things even though the prices in the grovery store are the same and people who live in different neighborhoods might buy the same things but one grocery store's prices could be higher that the other grocery store's and vice virsa.

I live in a moderate neighborhood in downtown Beaverton, Oregon, USA and I usually spend between $300 and $400 a month on groceries.
