How to do?

eight less than the product of two and a number x

 

I am not going to do your question but I will do a similar one.  Im just replaceing the letter with a number and see what happens.

 

8 less than the product of 2 and 7

 

8 less than something means you work out what the something is and then take away 8 from it.

 

So we need the product of 2 and 7  

product means multiply so we need     2*7

 

So the final answer after we work it out will be     2*7 - 8

a less than b = b - a

 

8 less than (2 times x) = (2 times x) - 8

                                    = (2x - 8)
