I think this is supposed to be :
[sin x cos y + cos x sin y] / [ cos x cos y- sin x sin y] = [cot x + cot y]/ [cot x cot y - 1]
Work on the left side dividing every term by sin x sin y
[ cot y + cot x] / [ cot x cot y - 1] and this equals the right side
