If this is supposed to be

2.3^2 + 2.5^2   we have

11.54   = 11 + 54/100   = [ 11 + 27/50 ]   miles

If it's supposed to be

(2/3)^2  + (2/5)^2  =

(4/9) + (4/25)   =    [common denominator = 225]

[ 100/225] + [ 36/225]  =

[136 / 225 ]miles

\(\frac{2}{{3}^{2}}+{2.5}^{2}\)

\(\frac{2}{9}+{2.5}^{2}\)

\(\frac{2}{9}+6.25\)

\(\frac{2}{9}+6.25\times\frac{100}{100}\)

\(\frac{2}{9}+\frac{625}{100}\)

\(\frac{2}{9}+\frac{625}{100} ÷\frac{25}{25}\)

\(\frac{2}{9}+\frac{25}{4}\)

\(\frac{2}{9}\times\frac{4}{4}+\frac{25}{4}\times\frac{9}{9}\)

\(\frac{8}{36}+\frac{25}{4}\times\frac{9}{9}\)

\(\frac{8}{36}+\frac{225}{36}\)

\(\frac{233}{36}\)

\(6 \frac{17}{233}\)

.
