Add 3 to both sides
4x=69
Divide by 4
x=17.25
So 17.25=>0
When you add 3 to both sides, you do not get 69, you get 75. Divide 75 by 4 and you get 18.75 not 17.25.
That was a typing mistake. Look at the original question.
4x + 3 = 72
4x + 3 - 3 = 72 - 3
4x = 69
x = 17.25
