In 1995 the enrolment of two schools X and Y were 1050 and 1190 respectively. Find the ratio of the enrolment of X to Y

The ratio of X to Y is simply X divided by Y or 1050/1190 = 7*17*10/(7*15*10) = 17/15  

Or, if you prefer, the ratio is 15:17
