In the arithmetic sequence 4, 4 1/2, 5, ... what term is 224?

I have got this so far, but not sure if this is correct.

224=4 + (n-1) (1/2)

220=1/2n-1/2

220 1/2 = 1/2n

220=n

i would actually think you are wrong. i may not be good at math, but when i figured it out, i got:

224 = 4+( (n-1) * 1/2) => n = 441

may wanna check again..? i dont know, up to you. like i said, not good at math so may be wrong or not.

You have the right idea....just a little faulty execution....take it from here

224=4 + (n-1) (1/2)

220  = (n- 1) (1/2)   multiply both sides by 2

440  = n - 1     add 1 to both sides

441 = n  ...so ...it's the 441st term....just as Guest said....

cool cool cool
