At least 120 kids, but probably more, are going on a field trip. We will take two buses and several cars. Each bus can hold 45 kids. Each car can hold 5 kids. 1) Create an inequality that models this situation, use the variable c to represent the number of cars needed. 2) Solve the inequality.

Two buses with 45 riders each = 90........so we have

 

90 +  5c >=  120   subtract   90  from both sides

 

5c > = 30      divide both sides by 5

 

c > = 6        [ you will need at least 6 cars, maybe more, if the number of people exceed 120  ]
