Anytime that you add a rational number (like 2/3, 14, 0, -7, etc.) to an irrational number (like √7, π, etc.), the answer will be irrational.
Rational numbers can be expressed as one number divided by another number. Since 19+ sqrt(14) cannot be expressed this way it must be irrational. Like pi, it just goes on forever.
