\(Area = length \times width \\ Area = 2\dfrac 1 4 \times 3 \dfrac 1 3 \\ Area = \dfrac 9 4 \times \dfrac {10}{3} \\ Area = \dfrac {90}{12} = \dfrac {15}{2} = 7\dfrac 1 2\)

You would multiply them together? It is presumably some sort of a rectangle. If so, then: 21/4 X 3/13=7.5 square units.
