The formula for a triangle is base x height to find the base you can divide 280 by 28 it proves to be effective because you need to see how many times 28 was multiplied to reach 280...

so 280 divided by 28 equals what which is equal to B or base.?

Area of a triangle is  1/2 *  Base * Height

Area=280 in^2

280 = 1/2 *  Base * 28   divide both sides of the equation by 28

10 = 1/2 * Base         Multiply both sides by 2

20 inches = Base

The first answer "The formula for a triangle is base x height"  is wrong

The formula for the area of a triangle is one-half x base x height
