Shiver bought some chocolates and sweets. Each sweet cost 1/6 as much as each chocolate. She spent 2/9 of her money on the sweets and 4/7 on her remaining money on 21 chocolates. How many sweets did she buy?
Let the amount of money that she started=M
She spent 2/9M on sweets. And,
She spent: 4/7 x 7/9M=4/9M on chocolates. But, we have:
4/9M = 21
M=$47.25. But, we have:
4/9 x $47.25 =$21 spent on 21 chocolates, or
$21/21=$1 per chocolate.But,
2/9 x $47.25 =$10.50 was spent on sweets. But we have:
$1/6 =.16666667.......The cost per 1 sweet. Therefore,
$10.50/.1666667=63 sweets that Shiver bought.
