We can use the pathagareom therom to figure this out a squared+ b squared = c squared

so 12 squared is 144

+ 3 squared which is 9  =

153 which and the square root of 153 is 12.37

You have the rght idea, HiylinLink...but the ladder length is actually the hypotenuse of a right triangle

So....it reaches

√ [ 12^2 - 3^2 ]  =

√ 144 - 9 ]   =

√135 ≈

11.6 ft

then we get 135

√135 and then we get

=11.6 that is how it would be hope this helps!
