I NEED HELP. Brad and his mom went shopping for school clothes. They bought two shirts for $17.50 each and a new pair of shoes. If they each paid $40.00, then how much were the shoes? To figure out how much the shoes cost, start at the beginning and create an algebraic expression .

The cost of the shoes, C, is given by :

2(40)  - 2(17.50)  =  C

80 -  35 =  C

$45  = C

17.50 x 17.50 = 35.00 so the shoes were 5 bucks
