I assume this is meant to be   \(343^{x+1}=49^\frac{1}{3}\)

This can be written as   \(7^{3(x+1)}=7^\frac{2}{3}\)   because 343 = 7^3 and 49 = 7^2

Hence  3(x+1) = 2/3

3x + 3 = 2/3

x+1 = 2/9

x = 2/9 - 1

x = -7/9

.
