ABC and DBE are similar triangles so  DB/AB = EB/CB

 

(10-x)/(10-x+x) = 3/(3+2)   or  (10 - x)/10 = 3/5 

 

Hence  10 - x = 30/5

            10 - x = 6

            x = 4
