The sum of the positive divisors of a positive integer of the form 3p is equal to 600, where p is prime. What is p?
600 - 3 = 597
597 x 1/3 =199 - which is your prime number p.
199 x 2 = 398
398 =[1, 2, 199, 398] - Number of its divisors.
Sum[1 + 2 + 199 + 398]== 600
Nice try guest.
It took me quite a while to get my head around the question too.
The number is 3p
both 3 and p are prime numbers so the only factors are 1,3, p and 3p
the sum of the factors is 4+4p
4+4p= 600
p+1=150
p=149
