What is the intensity of a sound that exerts 20W of power over an area of 10m^2?
If you are asking for the sound intensity level that exerts 20W of power on an area of intensity of \(10m^2\)
it would be an intensity level \(\beta \) of 123
Hope this helps ;P
Emerald Wonder, if you want to answer physics questions (or any type of applied mathematics), you should demonstrate the application of the relevant equations, including the proper use of units. Plopping half-hearted, unintelligible bullshit along with a wrong answer is not a substitute.
\(\bf \Large \beta \small \left(dB\right) \large =10\log_{10}\left(\frac{I}{I_0}\right) ~ | ~ \bf \tiny \text {(β) = sound intensity level in decibels; (I) = intensity in watts per meter squared; } I_0 \text { = standard corresponding to zero (0) decibels. }\\\\ \small \dfrac{20W}{10m^2} =\dfrac{2W}{m^2} \quad | \quad \bf \tiny \text {Convert point source area of sound to standardized area of one (1) square meter. }\\ 10\log_{10}\left(\frac{2W\cdot m^{-2}}{10^{-12}W\cdot m^{-2}}\right) = 123 ~ \small \bf dB \normalsize \quad | \quad \tiny (10^{-12}W \cdot m^{-2}) \text { -standard zero (0) decibel reference. }\\ \)

Thank you for your BS and your answer I am sure it will help this person. Please continue to harass online I am sure it helps everyone ;P
Added by Melody:
I have deleted my addition. It is of no importance.
It usually does help....at least she has the correct answer.....and an explanation as to how it was derived, rather than just giving an answer (which is really not why we are here).
This isn’t harassment, EW; it’s an observation of your presentation style. Your presentation style may suggest ignorance, but your lazy indifference is very obvious. If you care enough to answer the question, you should present your solution with reasonable comprehension and basic instructional formality. Even after correcting your answer, you still did not include the units.
You are not an island on this forum: over the years, thousands will read this question and your answer. If yours was the only one on this thread, they would leave with no more knowledge than they came with, and some would leave dumber than they arrived. Dumbness is contagious! So is laziness!

Dude don't be so harsh lay off man... shes just trying to help. I mean the your comment wwas a little uncalled for but this isn't really going to get any where. We seriesly don't need to tell the person there answer is a pile of BS all we need to do is state that it wasn't explanatory enough thats where curtoisy comes in you could also have said nothing at all aand put your answer down don't fight an eye for an eye.
There could have been a better and less offensive way to get your point across.
EP I though you were like a responsible adult on here... or so I'm told incouraging the insultment on anothers work is really a problem and is facilating people being jerks here.
Didn't insult anyone. Just pointed out that explanations of how answers are derived is better than just posting an answer out of the blue. GA is a bit acerbic...but she posts good solutions to often very difficult questions......I got no problem with that....take it with a grain a of salt.... Pretty sure GA has laughed at some of my solutions too......don't be a snowflake. Grow a thicker skin....cowgirl or cowboy up!
Lets break down the logic and axtually take some sense this is place for people with school SHE GAVE A VALID ANSWER we don't need to tell people to there garbage at given answers if it's funny to you it isn't funny to other people they aren't all whiz's but try to contribute we don't need to facilate jerks who are rude to innocent people.
Well, the main reason is the sub-moron English dialect they use is difficult to translate.
English sub-moron dialects range from low-level imbecile to high-level idiot. EmeraldWonder usually writes in the mid-range of idiot, which is why I can understand her most of the time. HiylinLink writes in low to mid-level imbecile, while LovinLife and the others in that collective are closer to low-level imbecile.
Interestingly, they appear to understand each other. I wish I had more time to study this social structure and its related languages. It reminds me of the semester when I studied wild turkeys. Turkeys are incredibly dumb birds –well dumber than chickens, yet they do communicate information to each other.

... Also, it’s easy to tell these rants are emotionally charged outbursts. Getting near them is reminiscent of studying the remains of bloated animals in mid-state decomposition –they will often explode, covering the examiner in putrid gore. This is, by far, worse than being skunked.
Lancelot Link told me of how he’d brave the crocodiles to swim across to the south side of the Congo River to study the Bonobo chimpanzees. Bonobos are much less aggressive than us regular chimps, but they will poke you up the ass every chance they get, and especially if you turn your back on them: it’s their version of make love, not war. Lancelot said he preferred the war. LOL
Lancelot made a high-security chastity belt so he could keep his ass intact while continuing his studies of the Bonobos. I might need one of these, if the group of sub-moron English dialect speakers increases in number. It looks like EP might have needed one of them. LovinLife sounds like a good name for a Bonobo.
