This is my homework question, i really can't figure it out!😞

Kyle bought three items at the store. The cost of the items were in the ratio of 2 to 3 to 7. If all three items cost $37.44, how much did the least expensive item cost? Show your work.

i would really appreciate if you showed how to get tho the answer, as it is required in the question.

OK.....notice if we add 2 + 3 + 7, we get 12. So there are 12 equal "parts" to the cost.

So, the most expensive item was 7 parts of the cost - 7/12 of the total cost.

The next most expensive was 3 parts of the cost - 3/12 (1/4) of the cost.

And the least expensive was 2 parts of the cost - 2/12 (1/6)  of the cost.

So.....$37.44 * (1/6) = $6.24........and that's the cost of the least expensive item.

And that's it!!

Hope that helps!!
