Write the point-slope form of the linear equation that has the following solutions.
Then rewrite the equation in slope-intercept form.
Can somone help me though this?
We have the points (-1.5 , 2.5) and ( 1.5, - 3.5)
Let's find the slope
First, subtract the y's in some order -3.5 - 2.5 = -6
Now......subtract the x's in the same order = 1.5 - (-1.5) = 3
Put the first result over the second = -6/3 = 2 .......this is the slope
Using either of the points - I'll use the first one - and the slope we have
y - 2.5 = (-2)[x - (-1.5)] this is the point-slope form .....now, simplify this....
y - 2.5 = (-2) [ x + 1.5]
y - 2.5 = (-2)x - 3 add 2.5 to both sides
y = -2x - 0.5
y = -2x - 1/2 and this is slope-intercept form
