-0.6x^2+3x+4  = 8      subtract 8 from both sides

 

-0.6x^2+3x-4 = 0     multiply both sides by -10/6

 

x^2 - 5x + 20/3 = 0    multiply both sides by 3

 

3x^2 - 15x + 20 = 0     this has no real solutions

 

[ The solutions are  [ 15 plus/minus(sqrt 15) i ]  / 6
