Solve the inequality

Isolating the variable: 3x < 6

 

Divide by 3: x < 2 :D

3x + 2 < 8

       -2   -2   subtract both sides by 2

= 3x < 6

 

3x/3 < 6/3    divide both sides by 3

= x < 2

We isolate x because we want the variables on the left hand side and the numbers on the right...

 

3x + 2 - 2 < 8 - 2

 

= 3x < 6

 

Note that this doesn't say greater than or equal to sign so 2 is not a solution...

 

1 is the only integer solution and the solution to the inequality is x < 2
