x+4y=-22 (1)
-2x-2y=14 → -x - y = 7 (2)
Add (1) and (2) and we get
x+4y=-22
-x - y = 7

3y = - 15 divide both sides by 3 and y = -5
And using (2) ....... -x - y = 7 ...... -x - (- 5 ) = 7 ......-x + 5 = 7 ........ -x = 2 ..........x = -2
