The volume of a cube is 8in cubed. How long is each side?

The volume of a cube is  length x width x height.

In a cube, the length = width = height.

If we call the length 's', then the width and the height are also each 's'.

Volume  = s x s x s  =  s³.

Volume = 8:

   s³  =  8

s = cube root of 8, which is 2, because 2³ = 8.
