Verify the following identity:
cos(x+pi/2)  =  -sin(x)

 

cos(pi/2+x) = cos(pi/2) cos(x)-sin(pi/2) sin(x):
cos(pi/2) cos(x)-sin(pi/2) sin(x)  =  ^?-sin(x)

 

cos(pi/2) = 0:
0 cos(x)-sin(pi/2) sin(x)  =  ^?-sin(x)

 

sin(pi/2) = 1:
-sin(x)  =  ^?-sin(x)

 

The left hand side and right hand side are identical:
