stew is installing drain pipe that requires a bend in it. the first part of the drain pipe is 6.4 m long and makes an angle of depression of 17 degrees with the surface of the ground. the second part of the drain pipe is 5.2 m long and makes an angle of depression of 37 degrees with the horizontal. How many meters below the surface of the ground is the end of the drain pipe?

The answer is given by :

 

6.4*sin( 17)   + 5.2*sin(37)   = about 5m   below the surface
