um 7th grader here

(Xm)(Xm+4m)-Xm i think but i might of misinterpreted the question

im puzzled with this question.. Might also be that i'm getting sleepy, Also..

The shaded area xan be represented as :

Total area - Area of Path =

[x(x + 4)  -  1x] m^2  =

[x^2 + 4x - 1x ] m^2 =

[ x^2 + 3x ] m^2

hold up i think i my first awnser had an error it should be -Xm^2 not -Xm because its 1m * Xm so full awnser would be             (Xm)(Xm+4m)-Xm^2

Area of shaded area  is ( (x+4) -1 )  *  x    sq m

      x^2 + 3x  sq m

My guess would xm{[(x+4)m]-m}

Why have I got to get my butt on here for Hayley  ??
