-4^4 is 256, but the calculator says -256... am i doing something wrong? cause -4*-4 is 16 and 16*-4 is -64 and -64*-4 is 256.
A common mistake......!!!
-4^4 = (-1) * 4^4 = (-1) * 256 = - 256 .......but.....
( -4)^4 = (-1 * 4)^4 = (-1)^4 * (4)^4 = 1 * 256 = 256
In the first case.....the exponent does not apply to the " - ".....in the second case, it does.....!!!!
